Fresh Chance Friday returning on February 2 to MLK Center

NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC – After a strong community response last year, Port City United (PCU) is excited to announce the second installment of an event that will offer residents valuable opportunities for employment and legal information.

"Fresh Chance Friday Part 2” will be held from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. on February 2 at the Martin Luther King Center (401 S 8th Street, Wilmington). This unique initiative is designed to connect the citizens of New Hanover County with gainful employment opportunities and legal information for record expunction.

“Our first Fresh Chance Friday was a huge success. So many in our community came out to get the help they needed to improve their situations for themselves and their families,” said Rashad Gattison, PCU Director. “Because of how successful the first event was, we knew we needed another opportunity help residents overcome obstacles to employment. Fresh Chance Friday is not only about personal and career growth but a chance to strengthen the bonds within our community.”

Free educational seminars will be held throughout the event by Legal Aid of North Carolina’s Second Chance Wilmington Project to provide information on criminal record expunction and driver’s license restoration. Additionally, various community businesses and organizations will be present to offer additional resources to attendees, including potential employment and career development opportunities.
