Growing Up in Wartime Wilmington

FREE EVENT! Join us for a special Museum program where Wilbur D. Jones, Jr. shares memories of growing up in Wilmington during World War II.

Wilbur was 7 years old when the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor and America entered the war. This program provides a view of life on the home front and the area's contributions to the war effort. Those contributions earned Wilmington’s designation as America's first WWII Heritage City in September 2020.

About Our Presenter:
Wilbur Jones is a nationally known, award-winning author/co-author of 20 books - 8 on WWII, and 2 on wartime Wilmington - a military historian and retired Navy captain.
