Port City United Connect
Port City United Connect is a 24/7 locally manned call center where community members can connect with resources and assistance they may need or anonymously report threats of incoming violence and other concerns not addressed through 911 or mental health hotlines.
PCU Connect is not built to police, but to provide for and empower our community. The call center is designed to be a safe place for all, using the utmost discretion to make connections to resources that help individuals stop the cycle of violence and find the support needed to heal from its aftereffects. Connections provided can include:
- Food security
- Safe housing assistance
- Neighborhood-specific issues and assistance
- Mental health resources
- Mentoring resources
- Community justice programs
- Social services and relief programs
Calls to PCU Connect are on an unrecorded, confidential line, and the local call takers will be trained in de-escalation to ensure the most appropriate response needed for any call and to make the best connection. Community outreach or violence interrupters may follow up in response to information and reports received to provide further resources, programs, or assistance.
