When Do I Call 911?

Please do not hesitate to call 911 during an emergency

An emergency is any threat to life and or property, or a crime in progress, such as a heart attack, to report a fire, a fight in progress, when someone could be seriously hurt, a serious vehicle collision, or an urgent welfare check. 

Please do not call 911 for non-emergent situations

A non-emergent situation could be a burglary that has passed occurred, lost property, or a barking dog. For non-emergent situations, please call our 10-digit non-emergency number at 910-452-6120. 

For non-emergencies related to your cable tv, telephone services, or power outages with no threats to you or the public, please call your local utility provider.

What If I Don't Speak English?

For non-English speaking callers, we have access to interpreters, through Voiance, to ensure adequate response to our non-English speaking community. These services are available twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year, for over 214 different languages on both our emergency and non-emergency lines.

What If I Can't Call In?

Text-to-911 is the ability to send a text message to reach 911 emergency call takers from your mobile phone or device. However, because voice calls to 911 provide more information to 911 call centers, you should always make a voice call to 911 during an emergency whenever possible.
