The New Hanover Human Relations Commission was formed to protect the rights of citizens by allowing them to live in an environment in which civil and human rights are valued and employment and housing discrimination are prohibited. Chapter 6.5 Article II of the New Hanover County Code of Ordinances addresses the establishment of the Commission. Its role is to promote and secure mutual understanding, respect, and equity of treatment for all citizens within the county.
