Safe Kids Cape Fear Buckle Up Program
Motor vehicle crashes are the leading cause of death to children ages 3-14 and the leading cause of injury death for children under age 3. Nationally and locally, over 85% of child restraints are used or installed incorrectly. Safe Kids Cape Fear Buckle Up has designated Permanent Checking Stations throughout the area which will provide a free child restraint inspection. North Carolina Law requires everyone in a vehicle to buckle up. Children are required to use a car seat or booster seat until they are at least 8 years old or 80 pounds, whichever comes first. Use the best protection for a child based on his or her age, height and weight.
