Safe Kids Cape Fear is a nonprofit organization dedicated solely to preventing unintentional childhood injury. The mission of the Safe Kids Cape Fear Coalition is to reduce the number of unintentional deaths and injury to children ages 0-14 years in New Hanover, Brunswick and Pender County through prevention, intervention and education. Safe Kids promotes changes in attitudes, behavior, laws and the environment to prevent accidental injury to children.

Child Passenger Safety Classes
The primary goal of the Safe Kids Child Passenger Safety Program is to instruct families on the proper use/installation of child restraints. Pre-registration is required to attend the class. The cost of the class is $25.00 which includes one convertible car seat for clients who receive WIC and Medicaid.
English: Held the 3rd Tuesday of every month at the New Hanover County Health Department. Call 798-6636 for appointment to register.
Spanish: Held the 1st Thursday of every month at Voces Latinas 202 N 5th Street Wilmington NC at 10:00 A.M. Call 910-762-1870 for registration.
Safe Kids Cape Fear Buckle Up Program
Motor vehicle crashes are the leading cause of death to children ages 3-14 and the leading cause of injury death for children under age 3. Nationally and locally, over 85% of child restraints are used or installed incorrectly. Safe Kids Cape Fear Buckle Up has designated Permanent Checking Stations throughout the area which will provide a free child restraint inspection.
