Juvenile Psychological Services (JPS)

·         Referrals for JPS are primarily from the Department of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (DJJDP).  The Department of Social Services and the Health Department School Based Therapists also refer children for diagnostic clarity to help facilitate more appropriate treatment.

·         The JPS staff conducts psychological evaluations, comprehensive clinical assessments, sex offender specific evaluations, and psychosexual risk assessments to provide appropriate diagnoses and behavioral/mental health treatment and placement recommendations to primarily court involved youth.

·         Individual and family psychotherapy is provided by JPS staff to ameliorate symptomology, strengthen skill development, and increase the overall level of adaptive functioning for the youth and family.

·         JPS staff provides consultation services to the DJJDP court counselors related to the implementation of behavioral/mental health treatment recommendations and onsite suicidal risk assessments/crisis management.

·         JPS staff makes every effort to provide services to court referred youth in a timely fashion to maximize the effectiveness of any potential treatment and/or placement recommendations.
