Community Services and Restitution (CS&R)
The YES department’s newest division, Community Services and Restitution (CS&R), focuses on crime prevention, reduction of criminal behavior, civic learning and responsibility.
· Referrals for CS&R are from the Department of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (DJJDP) and Teen Court.
· The CS&R program entails more than monitoring youth to ensure they complete their court sanctioned community service hours or pay their restitution.
· Youth and family participate in a one hour orientation/assessment process that includes a code of ethics regarding on the job behaviors, expectations for youth/parent, and a pre/post ethics assessment.
· CS&R coordinator works with the youth/family by assigning work sites that fit with the youth’s offense, likes and dislikes, location of residence, and transportation issues when possible.
· Upon completion of youth’s obligated service, the CS&R coordinator reassesses the youth/family to obtain any benefit, influence, and/or change the community service had on the youth.
· A 30 day follow up is conducted by the CS&R coordinator on the youth’s status relative to new charges, progress maintained at home, in the school, and community.
