Citizen/Disabled Tax Exemption

The annual income to qualify for this exclusion has been increased to $25,000 for 2008.  This means your total 2007 income can not exceed $25,000; you must be 65 years of age or older or permanently and totally disabled on January 1, 2008; and you must live in and own your home or mobile home. If you meet all 3 of these requirements, then the greater of $25,000 or 50% of the appraised value will be excluded from the property tax value.

You have until June 1st to submit this form, and all the necessary backup to our office. After that day and up until December 31, 2008, we will still process your application but it must be approved by the Board of County Commissioners.

2007 UNPAID REAL ESTATE TAXES WILL BE ADVERTISED IN THE LOCAL NEWSPAPER ON MAY 4 IF NOT PAID AND POSTED TO YOUR ACCOUNT BY 5:00 PM APRIL 30, 2008.
