The Land Records section of the Tax Department is responsible for maintaining the New Hanover County property base map and real property ownership data.  The property base map was built using the 1998 digital orthophotos of New Hanover County.  Cadastral information includes boundaries, road names, right-of-ways, acreages, lot dimensions, district boundaries and ownership information.  We operate a Geographic Information System (GIS) using ESRI's "ARCMap" version 9.2 software.  The identification of property locations is available through our On-Line Mapping Services.

There are two ways of researching real estate information.  Tax information at the present time is being hosted by a website outside of New Hanover County's environment.  This software is unable to incorporate lot dimensions.  However, if you go back to our home page and click on "Online Services" you will find the Base Map that is maintained by our staff.  This is where you will file lot dimensions and up to date photography.  Once you acquire the property information from our "Base Map" , you can check the attributes such as ownership and sales on the "Tax Records Inquiry" site.
