Another service provided by Risk Management is the processing of property and liability insurance claims.  If you are involved in an incident which resulted in bodily injury or property damage associated with the following entities:

- City of Wilmington
- Cape Fear Community College
- Cape Fear Public Transportation Authority DBA Wave Transit
- New Hanover County Airport Authority
- New Hanover County Board of Education (excluding yellow school buses)
- New Hanover Soil & Water Conservation District
- Southeastern Center for Mental Health, Developmental Disabilities, and Substance Abuse Services
- Wilmington Housing Finance & Development, Inc.

Please follow the directions below to report a claim:

1.  Call (910) 798-7497 to report the incident.
2.  Be prepared to give a full statement of the facts relative to the incident.
3.  Provide your insurance company name and policy number (usually needed for automobile accidents).
4.  Give the names, addresses, and telephone numbers of any witnesses and/or passengers involved.

The Risk Management Department reports the claim to the appropriate insurance carrier upon receipt of the necessary information.  It generally takes 24 - 48 hours for the claim to be assigned to an insurance adjuster.
