Property Management has implemented a countywide energy management program. The goal of this program is to maintain energy efficient, cost effective and comfortable buildings. This will be accomplished through a Building Automation System (BAS). This system has the capability to control a building's vital functions such as HVAC, card access, closed circuit TV, fire panels and indoor and outdoor area lighting. It will allow us to track energy usage and make sure that energy is used efficiently.

                                                               Customer Benefits

  • Building temperature controls can be accessible from any county computer within a department.
  • Indoor air quality features will be controlled and recorded to provide documentation of air quality conditions.
  • Energy cost will be reduced or avoided once a sustainable energy plan is implemented.
  • Building lighting patterns will be improved to enhance a better and productive work environment.

Energy Saving Tip of the Month

Use fans during the summer to create a wind chill effect that will make your home more comfortable. If you use air conditioning, a ceiling fan will allow you to raise the thermostat setting about 4°F with no reduction in comfort.

                                                   Progress Energy Incentives Programs

We have been working with Progress Energy on ways to reduce our energy consumption, along with some good advice on how to reduce our energy use. They also have an incentive program that we have  taken advantage of and received rebates for changing out lights, fixtures and energy miser for snack and soda machines. Below are two links that can help you with reducing your energy cost and your carbon footprint in your home.
