Limit new development in floodplains and mitigate existing structures through elevation and retrofitting or acquisition to reduce the number of repetitive flood losses.
Require traffic studies for large developments.
Pursue pedestrian and sidewalk improvements with NCDOT for our schools.
Work with NCDOT and the City to provide alternative forms of transportation including transit, bicycle and pedestrian facilities.
Provide tracking of development reviews and approvals on the web.
Continue to improve internet access to our Land Records and GIS coverages.
Improve water quality in our creeks and sounds through better stormwater management and land use controls.
Provide annual updates on the implementation of the Wilmington - New Hanover County Comprehensive Plan.
Establish and adopt a minimum Housing Code and Enforcement program.
Reduce the number of substandard Housing units through Rehabilitation Programs and Housing Grants.
Provide Housing choices and opportunities through inclusionary zoning practices.
Provide Uniformity and predictability in all permitting and regulatory policies and procedures.
Require the adequate open space and recreational areas are set aside when new developments are approved.
Require that adequate Public Facilities are available to accommodate the Growth of the County.
Integrate the County's Land Use and Growth Management Strategies with Capital Facitities Planning.
Continue the unification of Development Regulations in the City and County.
