The library provides information on tax preparation in print materials in the collection and through website links to state and federal agencies.

The Reference Desk at each location has a binder of reproducible forms from the IRS, that may be copied. Copying charges are $.10 page if using your library card or $.15 a page using coins or bills. You may call Reference desk at 798-6301 for information.

AARP Tax Aide Program

Certified tax aides will assist taxpayers with filing taxes online @ Main Library, 201 Chestnut Street, Wilmington, NC from 10 a.m. to 2p.m. starting January 30 and continuing until April 15. No apointment is necessary. Please bring with you : current year's tax package and or label, all forms W-2 and 1099's. Information for other income, information for all deductions/credits. A copy of last year's tax return. Proof of account for direct deposit of refund (ex. voided check) Social Security or Individual Taxpayer Indentification card for you, your spouse and / or dependents. Proof of identification for yourself and/or your spouse. Call 798-6400 for information
