Winter Learning New

As we approach winter it is a good time to remind our patrons about the number of services we offer those engaged in learning and retooling... For school age children the library subscribes to a wonderful online resource called Live Homework Help, this 24/7 service offers tutors in various subject areas. We also have a number of electronic resources designed to assist those polishing up their resumes as they search for new career opportunities. Finally, those interested in learning a foreign language can take advantage of a new product called Tell Me More, an online self paced language learning tool perfect for those dusting off old skills or just starting out. New Library Software

Over the next two months the library and the staff will be busy preparing for the installation of a new Integrated Library System. As we clean-up old files and prepare our database for the transition to the new system we have had to “close our catalog” until September 25^th. But don’t worry, if you don’t see a new title listed in the catalog it doesn’t mean we haven’t ordered it. Ordering will still be going on and a reference librarian will be able to help you if can’t find what you were looking for.

We apologize for the inconvenience but hope the new catalog, with all its new features, will make using the library easier and more rewarding for all the residents of New Hanover County.

Summer at the Library

As the summer approaches I want to invite you and your family to make the library a regular part of your summer fun. We have something for everyone, from weekly story times to books and DVD’s that can uncover wonder of the universe. And don’t forget, our Summer Reading Club is open to everyone. So Be Creative and Express Yourself. The World Opens for everyone @ your library.
