ALOHA - Mobile Outreach Service

ALOHA (Adult Library Outreach for the Home Bound and Aged) Services are provided through the Circulation Department of the New Hanover County Public Library to the residents of the county who cannot use the main library or any of the branch libraries.

The ALOHA services are designed to meet the library needs of the physically or mentally handicapped, aged, institutionalized, and homebound residents of New Hanover County.  Books, movies, and audio books are loaned to our ALOHA patrons.  The library materials are delivered by library staff and trained volunteers.

To be eligible for ALOHA, a patron must reside in New Hanover County and meet one of the following criteria:

  • Restricted in their ability to leave their home because of health or handicaps.
  • Restricted in their ability to come to any of the library branches because of lack of transportation, health or handicaps.
  • Restricted in their ability to use the services of the library at any location because of health or handicaps.
