Brochure
The Foundation will work closely with the library administration to identify needs that the Library Foundation can fund, above and beyond basic services provided by the County budget and ongoing activities supported by the Friends of the Library.
Your contribution to the Library Foundation of New Hanover County will help the library provide more books and materials, exceptional programs and services to our growing community. The Foundation strives to augment the needs of a century old institution. Two of our projects include an interior renovation at the downtown branch to create a newly designated Young Adult Area and the Endowed Book Fund, an ongoing mechanism to raise an endowment to purchase books and media. Donor Form
The Foundation began fundraising in 2005 in order to establish a sound financial base and to initiate a major author program. The Founder program raised over $200,000 with major contributions from 68 very generous donors. The Pat Conroy sellout event in 2006 and the John Berendt program in January, 2007 were very successful starts to the planned annual major author events.
The Endowed Book Fund was initiated in conjunction with the Berendt event and its function is to provide annual income from the book fund to be used by the Library to supplement the book budget, which in recent years has not been adequate to meet the library needs. To date the fund totals over $23,000 which is a good start toward a Book Fund goal of $150,000 or more.
