KAB of NHC receives Cigarette Litter Prevention Program grant from Keep America Beautiful, Inc. The grant will expand on the existing activities in downtown Wilmington. Partners for this program include Wilmington Downtown, Inc, the City of Wilmington, and restaurant and bar owners. This grant is particularly timely because of the recent ban on smoking in bars and restaurants. Bans in other states have caused an increase in cigarette litter as more people go outside to smoke.
The grant program will consist of two cigarette litter scans in the program implementation area, distribution of pocket ashtrays, installation of ash receptacles, and outreach to downtown residents, businesses, and visitors. YOU can be a part of the solution. If you smoke, don't litter.

KAB of NHC distributes cleanup supplies to any interested school or group that wants to organize their own cleanup on their school grounds or in a nearby park. Supplies are distributing in early March.
