Provides education for youth to help them gain life skills to promote success at school, home and in the community.; The program consists of the following skills:

Life Skills Development
Project Alert
14 lesson drug prevention program with the following goals:
- to reduce the use of dangerous substances by keeping nonusers from trying them
- to prevent nonusers and experimenters from becoming regular users
Wise Lives
8 monthly character theme program.; Student goals include the following:
- to learn and apply character skills which will build self esteem and lead to greater success in and out of school
- to be exposed to positive role models in the word and lives of a variety of historical figures from diverse cultural backgrounds
- to grow in responsibility towards others and their community and to see the value of becoming responsible citizens in our society
Wisdom for Life
Character program with Wise Lives
Peace Talks
10 part violence prevention program designed to give students ways to make life safer by choosing peace.
Basic Life Skills
Includes the following components:

Woodworking Program
The name of this program is Kids Making It (KMI). For several years its founder and director, Jimmy Pierce, has taught woodworking skills to at risk youth that are involved with the Wilmington Housing Authority, Juvenile Day Treatment Center (JDTC), DREAMS and the Domestic Violence Shelter and Services. Jimmy is a member of the JDTC faculty.
KMI was the winner of the 2002 national Community Craftsman of the Year award from Minwax and the 2004 National Award of Merit winner from the National Association of Housing and Redevelopment Officials.; Jimmy was also awarded the 2004 Adult Youth Leader of the Year Award from Cape Fear Youth Development Vision Inc.
Program Description
Youth from the community and referred from the partners listed above learn basic business concepts and woodworking skills in the program.; Helping youth become entrepreneurs will build self-confidence and a more positive outlook on their future (building a sense of hope). Through this program the youth become more aware of their talents and realize through interaction with the public that people value their talents and ambitions, the work they do, and the things they are able to create.; Through this kind of involvement we hope to improve their academic performance, life skills and overall health and well being.
