Zoning Division

New Hanover County's Zoning division is located within the Inspections department. The Zoning division is responsible for the following activities:

• Enforcing New Hanover County’s Zoning Ordinance  as adopted by the Board of Commissioners. Enforcement includes reviewing residential and commercial permit applications, investigating complaints and taking legal action against violators of the Ordinance.
• Table of Permitted Uses for respective zoning districts.
• Acting as the local permitting agency for Coastal Area Management Act (CAMA) minor permits.
• Serving as the local office for floodplain information and administration in the unincorporated areas of New Hanover County. Floodplain administration includes reviewing floodplain development permits and retaining floodplain records for New Hanover County.
• Providing adminstrative services to the Zoning Board of Adjustment.
