Citizens may receive services from the Commission if they live in New Hanover County, the City of Wilmington, Wrightsville Beach, Carolina Beach, and Kure Beach. The Human Relations Commission is resource that allows local citizens the opportunity to seek relief from housing and employment discrimination. If the problem is determined to be jurisdictional for the Commission, the citizen is assisted in filing a charge of discrimination against the employer or housing service provider. After a full investigation, all parties involved are informed of the results. Other services include referring citizens to other agencies as appropriate. The Commission partners with other agencies and groups that support the Commission's vision.
