Japanese Encephalitis
Japanese encephalitis is a mosquito-borne infection with a high incidence occurring in Asia. These mosquitoes feed outdoors at night, beginning at dusk and during the evening hours before dawn. The short-term traveler is at a reduced risk for acquiring the disease, but risk is greater for those staying 30 days or longer in areas in high-prevalence areas. The series consist of two vaccinations over a 5 week period.
