School nurses strengthen and facilitate the educational process by improving and protecting the health status of students and staff. This is accomplished by providing services including

• A holistic approach for every student
• Monitoring of student health concerns
• Developing Emergency Action Plans with parents for students with chronic health concerns
• Instruction and evaluation of school personnel performing care for students with special health care needs
• Promoting and providing education for healthy lifestyles
• Medical assessment and consultation with provider, parents and staff with a need to know
• On-going monitoring of student immunizations
• Mass screenings with parental permission and teacher referrals
• Referral and follow-up of students with health care concerns
• First Aid and Emergency care
