Child Care Nursing Program

The Child Care Nursing Program serves all child care facilities, homes and centers in New Hanover County. The Program provides ongoing health and safety consultation, technical assistance and health education to children, providers, and parents. Public health nurses assist with the maintenance of health records, the development and implementation of written policies for the prevention and control of communicable disease and injuries, and the addition of action plans for specific health care needs.

This program is a Smart Start funded program with the goal of improving the quality of the child care environment so every child in NHC arrives at school healthy and ready to succeed.
