Some New Hanover County residents can get anti-radiation pills (KI)

Beginning Jan. 23, potassium iodide (KI) pills will be available at no cost to New Hanover County residents who live or work within 10 miles of the Brunswick Nuclear Power Plant. Residents and employees in the areas of southern River Road, Seabreeze or Pleasure Island may receive the pills, which are used to prevent the thyroid gland from absorbing radioactive iodine if radiation is released from the power plant.

One member of a household or business may obtain the pills for the entire residence or business.

PILLS ARE AVAILABLE to eligible New Hanover County residents at the New Hanover County Health Department, 2029 S. 17th St., Wilmington, North Carolina, Monday - Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
