Asbestos Waste Disposal Policy

Asbestos waste will be accepted at the rate of $69.00/cubic yard as follows:

§  Only from homeowners performing “Do it yourself” jobs

§  In quantities not to exceed ten cubic yards per dwelling

§  All asbestos waste must be double bagged with heavy duty plastic trash bags and labeled “asbestos” with the homeowners name and address

§  An approval letter and chain-of-custody must be filled out, by the homeowner, prior to disposal (Contact the Environmental Programs Manager for these items at 798-4402)

§  Homeowners must notify the landfill twenty four (24) hours in advance of bringing asbestos waste for disposal

§  Asbestos waste must be disposed of only in the designated site at the landfill

§  Friable and non-friable asbestos waste will be accepted Monday through Friday only between the hours of 10:00 am to 2:00 pm, no Saturday deliveries

No asbestos waste will be accepted from the following:

§  Any small business

§  Any commercial or industrial company

§  Any apartment complexes or duplexes

§  Any “For profit” organization

§  Any school, community college or university

§  Any military base or installation
