Work First 2010-2011

Adoption
The staff studies families who wish to adopt and locate adoptive placements for children in our custody

Adult Protective Services
Social workers receive and investigate reports of abuse, neglect or exploitation of disabled adults

Adult Services
Social workers work with elderly and disabled individuals, and their families, to develop a plan for supportive services, either in their homes or in rest or nursing homes

Child Care
Child care subsidies are available for lower income families who are employed. Day care is also available for people, if eligible, because of special circumstances

Children's Protective Services
Social Workers receive and investigate reports of abuse, neglect or dependency of children

Children's Services
Social workers work with families to develop plans for safety of children
arrange foster care placements as necessary, and complete home assessments
 
Prevention Services
Social workers are available to help people locate resources for rent, utilities and food as well as deal with other types of crises

Food and Nutrition Services
Food Stamps help lower income families and individuals purchase food items. There are work requirements for some adults to receive Food Stamps

Foster Care
Social workers are available to license and train registered foster parents, and then provide supportive services

Medical Assistance
Medicaid provides access to needed medical services for lower income people who meet eligibility criteria. Medicaid may pay for doctors visits, prescription drugs, outpatient appointments and hospitalization

Transportation Services
Transportation services may be provided for Medicaid recipients for medical appointments

Work First
Work First provides time-limited financial assistance to poor families while emphasizing personal responsibility and moving them toward work
