Effective January 2007, recipients of Medicaid, Food Stamps or Work First are eligible for a NC Fishing License waiver. Any current Medicaid, Food Stamps or Work First recipient interested in obtaining a fishing license waiver should either come into the New Hanover County Department of Social Services at 1650 Greenfield Street or call 798-3400.
The Department of Social Services provides economic assistance to New Hanover County citizens with basic subsistence needs and provides services to citizens with physical, social and emotional problems.
Multi-language interpreting, sign language interpreters & TTY are available at no cost to clients, if needed, to obtain Department services.
