Personal Data
William A. "Bill" Caster is former owner of two small businesses in New Hanover County. He was born in Santa Fe, New Mexico, and attended the Coast Guard Academy and graduated with a BS in Engineering in 1963; graduated from the Armed Forces Staff College in Norfolk, Virginia; attended the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, California and received a MS in Oceanography in 1969; attended Golden Gate University in San Francisco, California, and received a Masters in Business Administration in 1976 and a Masters in Public Administration in 1984. He retired from the U. S. Coast Guard in 1990 after twenty-seven years of commissioned service with the rank of Captain. He is a member of Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church and serves on the Mission Committee. Over the past ten years, Bill and his wife, Diane, have gone on several mission trips to Africa, South America, and the Caribbean.
